City Wonders · Colosseo metro
City Wonders' most booked tour starts in the Colosseum, then climbs the Palatine and ends in the Roman Forum with the same licensed guide. Pick it for the track record and the choice of formats, but take a 3-hour option: the 1.5-hour ones are built around the Colosseum and leave the ruins to you.

City Wonders sells this as one listing with ten options, and the option decides how much of the Forum you see with a guide. The five 3-hour options (Colosseum Group, Small Group, Semi-Private, Arena Floor Access Group and Arena Access Semi Private) follow the full itinerary: about 1.5 hours in the Colosseum, an hour on the Palatine and 30 minutes in the Forum. The three 1.5-hour Arena Access options last as long as the Colosseum stop alone, so plan the ruins yourself. The two app options, Tickets with Audioguide App and Ticket with Arena + Audioguide, have no guide at all.
Every option includes the Park ticket the listing values at €18 (€24 with the arena) plus the €2 booking fee. That's the official Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine ticket, which already opens the Forum and Palatine once within 24 hours of your Colosseum slot. On a short option, walk into the ruins straight after the guide leaves you: the Via Sacra gate by the Arch of Titus is a few minutes from the Colosseum.
Thirty minutes is not much for the Forum, and the Palatine gets twice that. Guests also report the 3 hours running closer to 2 or 2.5 on some days. If the ruins are why you came, the Forum and Palatine tour gives the Forum 45 minutes on its own, and Crown Tours' combo splits its time evenly. One more rule: names are fixed at booking. Every guest's ID must match the reservation, and City Wonders does not allow name changes.
Until 31 December 2026 the coordinator waits on Largo Gaetana Agnesi, the little square above the Colosseo stop on metro line B, in a blue City Wonders polo or jacket. From 1 January 2027 it's Belvedere Cederna on Via dei Fori Imperiali, the viewpoint right above the metro C exit.
Every guest shows a passport or ID card matching the booking. Security is airport-style and can add a wait at busy times.
The first and second levels with the guide. Arena options step out onto the arena floor.
On 3-hour options: up past the imperial palaces to the terraces over the Forum. The order of the sites can change.
Down to the Via Sacra, the temples and the Senate house, where the tour ends. Your ticket lets you stay on.
★★★★★Silvia was an amazing guide for this tour. [...] She even went off the beaten path a few times and showed us things that weren't necessarily on the itinerary (View from the top of Palentine Hill, Arch of Constantine, etc).
★★★★★Our guide Silvia was spectacular and so passionate about the history and architecture. Listening to all the information and looking at the visual guides and comparing it to that which you see around you was just spectacular!
★★★★★We were in a small group, 10 or 11, so you could hear your guide well and ask questions. Don’t go with large groups.
★★★★★My 8 and 11 year old were engaged and our guide MaryLuisa was so knowledgeable and fun. 3 hours went quick and the whole family learned a lot, highly recommend

On the 3-hour options, yes: after the Colosseum the itinerary gives about an hour on the Palatine and 30 minutes in the Forum with the guide. The 1.5-hour Arena Access options last as long as the Colosseum stop, and the two audioguide options have no guide. Every option includes Forum and Palatine entry, so you can always explore on your own.

1.5 or 3 hours, depending on the option. Guests on the 3-hour version report anything from 2 hours to just over 3. Leave time afterwards: the ticket lets you stay in the ruins.
No. City Wonders needs every participant's name at booking and does not permit name changes once confirmed, and staff at the Colosseum compare each ID with the reservation. Our 2026 ticket rules explain the official name-change form.
